Green on St Patrick’s Day
SEO March 19th, 2009Honestly, I haven’t seen too many homes being torn down in my lifetime and the ones I have for the most part do have a lot of the materials recycled.
Whatever going green means to you, for most people today it means if you aren’t wearing green you better be ready to be pinched. There are times when going green isn’t a good thing. I’ve found some things hiding in the corners of the fridge that went green, it wasn’t a pretty sight. Green treating lumber keeps it from being eaten by termites, but use it around a barbeque and you can poison your food with the chemicals used to treat the wood. (That’s not a good idea, I hope you got that).
Now we are hearing more and more about Green Building and Green homes, meaning more environmentally friendly homes. Or it means they are more expensive to build but more economical to maintain. For some it means these homes leave a smaller carbon footprint (do homes leave footprints?). This week I heard the green building mean more of the materials in a home can be recycled when the home is torn down.
